Lewis Hamilton, a prominent Formula One driver, will wear a rainbow-colored helmet in support of the LGBTQ community’s fight against what they view as discriminatory legislation in Florida. Despite criticism of legislation like the “Don’t Say Gay” education law and the planned bill prohibiting drag shows, Hamilton did not specifically mention any particular legislation.

He did express his disagreement and lack of support for government decisions, saying, “I just really want to continue to support the community here and let them know I stand with them and I hope they continue to fight against it.” Hamilton did not directly oppose future races being held in Florida, stating that he could not make such a decision.

He distinguished between the people in government and the citizens of Miami, expressing his desire to be supportive of the latter. A representative for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dismissed Hamilton’s remarks, saying that the British have not had a say in US policy for 246 years.
